The 10th annual Northville STEAM Fair, organized in partnership with Northville Public Schools (NPS) and the Northville Educational Foundation (NEF), was a tremendous success, demonstrating the creativity and talent of students throughout the district. This two-day event, held at Northville High School, brought together students, families, educators, and community members to celebrate innovation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM).
The fair began on Wednesday, April 24, with a bustling Community Night. More than 351 presenters from grades K-12 displayed their innovative projects to an engaged audience. The turnout was exceptional as families visited each exhibit, listening to students present their work and gaining insights into their creative processes. The projects ranged from robotics and engineering to art and environmental science.
One of the most exciting parts of Community Night was the announcement of the scholarship winners. Among 21 outstanding high school projects, the following teams received awards for their innovative ideas and execution:
🏆 High School Runner-up ($500): Sanjana Duttagupta, Pradyu Jamadagni, Karthik Gankid, Shreyas Posam, Jungchul Lee, and Sahithy Prattipati for their project on Parkinson's Disease Detection.
🏆 High School Winner ($1,000): 12th grader, Charlie Sands stole the spotlight with "MotorMinder: A system for predictive analysis of vehicle component failure with AI." His innovative approach demonstrated the power of STEAM education in addressing real-world challenges.
Among 20 outstanding middle school projects, one team stood out for their impressive work:
🏆 Middle School Winner ($500): Sujana Krishnan for her project "Deep Dive: CO2 In The Oceans."
The second day of the fair, Thursday, April 25, saw all 4th graders from across the district take a field trip to Northville High School to explore the STEAM Fair. The students had the opportunity to interact with the presenters, providing inspiration for their own future projects.
The 10th annual Northville STEAM Fair was a testament to the dedication and creativity of our students, as well as the strong support from our community. We thank everyone who contributed to making this event a success, including the organizers, sponsors, and volunteers. We look forward to seeing how our budding innovators continue to shape the future.
